Police ask for public’s help to find suspect in armed Christmas Day beer robbery

Tacoma police are looking for a man who they say on Christmas Day robbed the Shell gas station in the 5400 block of Tacoma Mall Blvd.

The robber didn’t take money, he took a six pack of beer, officers said.

He grabbed the pack from a cooler about 10:30 a.m., walked up to the clerk and showed a handgun before he fled with the beer, according to police.

The suspect is described as an Asian male in his 20s, 5 foot 6, of slender build, with short dark hair.

He was wearing gray pants, a black jacket, a black baseball hat and large diamond stud earrings.

The man fled in a gray or silver 4-door sedan with Idaho license plates, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers at 253-591-5959. Tip are anonymous, and can lead to a reward of up to $1,000.
