Renton man killed in Auburn crash that shut down eastbound SR 18 for more than 3 hours

A Renton man was run over by a semi truck and killed this afternoon after he got out of his vehicle and lay down on eastbound state Route 18 in Auburn, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 42-year-old man died at the scene of the crash, which happened about 12:30 p.m. just east of state Route 164, troopers said. The roadway was closed for about 3 1/2 hours.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the State Patrol.
