Prosecutors charge Tacoma man accused of pimping teenage girl

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 29-year-old Tacoma man suspected of pimping a teenage girl with two counts of promoting commercial sexual abuse of a minor.

Alfred Clark pleaded not guilty Thursday. His bail was set at $100,000 and a judge issued a protection order for the 16-year-old victim.

Lakewood police started an investigation Wednesday during an operation targeting juvenile prostitution. An undercover officer found an ad on Backpage.com and made arrangements to meet at an area motel and have unprotected sex with two girls for $300.

Officers detained the girls in the motel room and caught Clark as he tried to escape in his SUV, which he’d been sitting in outside. The victims identified Clark as their pimp and police said his cell phone number was the one used to arrange the meeting.

The teen said she met Clark in August and agreed to prostitute for him.

“In return, Clark said he would take care of her and buy her nice things,” documents state.

She said Clark also asked her to take a bus to Arizona and prostitute there.
