A 15-year-old felon has been arrested in connection with the gang shooting that injured one teen at a Parkland McDonald’s restaurant Monday afternoon.

Pierce County sheriff’s detectives have also recovered a .22 caliber rifle believed to be used in the shooting. Spokesman Ed Troyer said the boy arrested has at least one prior conviction for weapons charges.

The incident happened about noon at the McDonald’s in the 11000 block of Pacific Avenue. A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the hand.

Troyer said the shooting involved two groups of rival gang members between the ages of 13 and 16. Ten gang members are believed to be involved, along with three weapons that fired eight to ten rounds.

Although detectives detained some of the teens, Troyer said they are being uncooperative.

“We believe there were other shots fired and we’re looking for other people,” he said. “The investigation is continuing.”
