UPDATE as of 3:25 p.m. The State Patrol is treating the shootings as separate incidents, trooper Guy Gill said. The only connection between them is the similar times and close locations, he said.

INITIAL POST: A minivan shot on eastbound state Route 16 by North Jackson Avenue and a sedan shot on northbound Interstate 5 in Tacoma Sunday were hit by different firearms, troopers said today.

No one was injured in either shooting.

The SR 16 shooting happened about 4:15 a.m. between North Jackson Avenue and the eastbound Tacoma Narrows bridge.

The full-size sedan was shot multiple times about 30 minutes later between South 56th Street and South 38th Street.

The State Patrol was still investigating whether the shootings are related.

Anyone with information is asked to call State Patrol detective Vic Mauro at 253-538-3176.
