A Stage 1 burn ban has been lifted in Pierce County as of 10 a.m., according to the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency.

Cold, stagnant weather has forced various levels of air quality burn bans throughout January.

Officials remind residents that burning garbage is always illegal and those who heat with wood should not emit excess chimney smoke.
