A 58-year-old man was arrested early this morning for crashing a truck into a Tacoma house and fleeing the scene, police said.

Department spokeswoman Loretta Cool said the man was involved in two collisions with two different cars he’d borrowed from friends. His roommate told officers he didn’t drink alcohol but hadn’t been sleeping much.

The man told police he didn’t remember the accidents. One occurred about 7 p.m.; the second crash happened about 2:45 a.m.

Shortly after the man crashed into a home in the 6800 block of South Cheyenne Street, a neighbor spotted him pulling a tarp over the truck. Police said a hubcap left at the scene matched the truck.

No one was injured in the crash, which damaged a section of the home and the stairs.

The man was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run.
