UPDATE, 12:02 p.m.: An 18-year-old from Orting was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a one-car crash early Sunday on state Route 162.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the young man was driving a 2003 Mazda eastbound on SR162 when the vehicle left the road and struck a power pole just before 1:30 a.m.

The State Patrol says the teen was wearing a seat belt, and investigators do not think drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

State Route 162 was closed completely for about six hours for the investigation and power-pole repair. One lane opened to traffic around 8 a.m., and all lanes reopened around noon.

UPDATE, 7:35 a.m.: The state Department of Transportation says that flaggers are alternating one-way traffic through the area. Drivers should expect delays.

Work crews and Puget Sound Energy are also on scene repairing a power pole that was damaged in the crash.
