Car crashes into light pole in Stadium District, driver dies

UPDATE as of 2:15 p.m. Fire crews were called at 2:42 a.m. to North 1st Street and North Tacoma Avenue to respond to the crash. Witnesses told officers that a recklessly driven vehicle heading northbound on Tacoma Avenue, south of Division Avenue, crashed into two parked cars and then the light pole, according to Tacoma police.

INITIAL POST: A car crashed into two parked vehicles and then a light pole early this morning near North Tacoma Avenue and Division Avenue, according to Tacoma police. Officers said the car was engulfed in flames and the driver was deceased.

The Tacoma Fire Department put out the blaze, and Tacoma police officers were investigating the crash.
