UPDATE 6:55 p.m. Sat. Jan.12

By Saturday evening, power was being restored in stages to the Village Green Mobile Home Park in Lakewood, a volunteer working with the park’s management said.

Mary Lou Goldner, who identified herself as the wife of the mobile home park’s assistant manager, told The News Tribune several groups of mobile homes had power restored by 6:50 p.m.  Park managers expected that an unknown number of homes still without power would get it back before the end of Saturday night, she added.

“They’re trying to get it all on tonight,” Goldner said. “That’s the thought, so long as everything holds.”

Meantime, temperatures have dipped to about 30 degrees, with forecasters expecting the thermometer to drop into the low to mid 20s overnight.

Residents of the Village Green Mobile Home Park in Lakewood shivered all day Friday. Power to sections of the complex in the 2900 block of 84th Street South went out shortly after 10 a.m. Friday. At 9:30, the juice was still missing. The park has about 200 units.

Mike Moreno, manager of the park, stood at the main entrance with an electrician, waiting for a replacement fuse for the transformer box. Moreno said he’d spent the day searching for the right replacement fuse with no luck. As night fell and the temperature dipped below freezing, the electrician’s phone rang with good news. Moreno expected the power to return within an hour – meanwhile, he built a fire in the main community center at the park and bought pizza, urging residents come and inside and warm up.
