Temperatures are expected to drop significantly and less than an inch of spotty snow could fall in the lowlands through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said it will be a struggle for today’s high to reach 40 degrees and temperatures will drop further by Saturday. Lows in the 20s are to be expected, the Weather Service said.

Scattered showers are also in the forecast, which could include a mixture of rain and snow.
