A Tacoma Public Utilities customer in the North End of the city reported that a man knocked on her door a few nights ago and said he was doing electrical work affecting her home and wanted to speak with her, according to the agency.
She did not open the door.
Agency officials ask that customers who encounter someone pretending to be a utility employee call the police.
TPU employees don’t often go door to door, the agency said, and do not ask to go into homes.
Employees carry a badge with their picture, name and employee ID number.
They also wear clothing with a TPU, Tacoma Power, Tacoma Water or Tacoma rail logo.
