Fife police officers say a man looking for a massage from an advertised escort Monday got pepper sprayed and robbed instead.

Fife officers responded Monday to a call about a robbery in the 3100 block of Pacific Highway East.

They arrived to find a 30-year-old man who said he hired a woman who had posted on backpage.com as an escort to come to his room at the hotel to give him a massage, according to police.

The pair agreed to a price for the service when she arrived, and she went into the restroom, officers said.

Shortly thereafter, a man knocked on the door to the hotel room, and tried to force his way into the room when the 30-year-old opened the door, according to police.

Meanwhile, the woman came out of the bathroom, pepper sprayed in the face the man who hired her, took the money in his wallet, and ran to a nearby vehicle with the other man and fled, officers said.

The woman was found and arrested for investigation of second-degree robbery, according to Fife police.
