A drive-by shooting in Lakewood that resulted in eight arrests was retaliation for a drug deal that soured, police said this morning.
No one was injured in the shooting, which happened about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, but bullets struck a parked car and house in the 8400 block of 99th Street Court Southwest.
Lt. Chris Lawler said the victim had earlier met a group of people for a drug deal and fired a shot at their car after the deal went bad. He did not hit anyone, but a bullet struck their trunk.
The group returned fire as they drove away.
“They fired shots at each other one other time as they passed each other on a street,” Lawler said.
Hours later, police said the group decided to shoot up the victim’s house. Eight people were arrested after fleeing into an apartment complex.
The investigation has also netted five weapons, some of which were stolen.
