A man driving a stolen vehicle crashed head-on into a Federal Way patrol car early this morning at the end of a pursuit, police said.

An officer noticed the stolen car driving on 21st Avenue Southwest near Southwest 320th Street about 4:30 a.m. and began following it into the Twin Lakes neighborhood. As the driver accelerated and tried to get away, department spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said the officer started chasing him.

As the driver turned east from SW 342nd Street, he lost control, jumped the curb and collided with a patrol car. Schrock said the officer was not injured but the patrol car suffered minor damage to the front bumper and push bar.

A 27-year-old Kirkland man was arrested on suspicion of eluding and possessing a stolen vehicle. His passenger, a 25-year-old Federal Way woman, was released.
