A 54-year-old Spanaway man was arrested Thursday night for hitting a bicyclist with his truck and fleeing the scene, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened about 10:10 p.m. on state Route 7 near 52nd Avenue East.

Troopers said a man driving a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck was heading north on SR 7 when he struck the 43-year-old bicyclist, who was heading in the same direction.

The driver was found later at a nearby home and arrested.
