Tacoma house fire that injured two caused $65,000 in damages

A house fire in Tacoma that severely injured two people Tuesday also caused an estimated $65,000 in damages, the Fire Department reported.

Firefighters were called to the 4510 block of South Fawcett Avenue about 10:20 p.m. and found heavy flames and smoke from the front of the 936-square-foot home.

The cause has not been determined.

A man and a woman were able to escape the fire before crews arrived. Both have been hospitalized with serious injuries. The woman suffered second-degree burns to her hands and legs; the man suffered second-degree burns to his face and head, according to Tacoma police.
