Lakewood police today identified two officers involved in the fatal shooting of a suspected car thief who the department says fired at police in Tacoma Dec. 9.

Officer Jon Waller and Officer Ryan Moody are both back to work after the incident. They were placed on administrative leave per procedure after the shooting.

The man died several days after the shooting.

Both have been with the department since 2006, and were lateral hires. Waller, 32, has been an officer eight and a half years, and Moody, 34) has been an officer for seven years and four months.

Neither officer has been involved in any other shootings as a Lakewood police officer, spokesman Chris Lawler said.

Tacoma police were investigating the shooting.

Until the review is complete, no other details will be released about the shooting, according to Lakewood police.
