Blown transformer causes early morning explosion near S. 64th St. and S. Tacoma Way

A 4 a.m. explosion near South 64th Street and South Tacoma Way was a blown transformer, according to Tacoma police.

No one was injured and no fire resulted, as far as officers know.

Tacoma Public Utilities spokeswoman Chris Gleason said she didn’t receive any notice of power outages in the area.
