A 54-year-old Puyallup man died around noon Saturday when his car hit a tree and flipped.

Francis Gierczynski was driving west on Highway 512 just east of 7th Avenue Southeast when his 1997 Mercury Cougar left the roadway, hit a tree and came to rest on its top, the Washington Highway Patrol reported.

The cause of the single-car accident is under investigation.
