Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies used a taser to subdue a drunk driving suspect overnight, according to Tacoma police.

The man fled after a crash in the 1900 block of Westridge Avenue West, police said.

Deputies were sent to the scene, and stopped the driver after he was involved in another accident in the 1900 block of South Mildred Street nearby, police said.

The driver resisted, at which point deputies used the taser, according to police.

Another person involved in the second crash suffered non life-threatening head injuries and was taken to the hospital, according to police.

The driver involved in both crashes was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault and driving under the influence, police said.
