Tacoma police responded to a report of shots fired in the 3400 block of Portland Avenue just after 2:30 p.m.

A man reportedly fired a series of rounds into the ground and took off running, Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

Officers arrived and did not find anyone in the area, she said.

No one was injured, and police have finished searching the area, Cool said.
