Forecasters warn of icy roads this morning that are likely to worsen as rain moves in.

Some areas, especially on the Kitsap Peninsula, are expected to receive up to an inch of snow today, according to the National Weather Service. Several schools there announced closures for the day.

Federal Way schools will run two hours late with limited transportation. Morning activities have been canceled.

In Tacoma, rain and snow remain in the forecast until late morning. Today’s high is 42.

The snow level should rise from 200 feet to 1,300 feet by afternoon, the Weather Service said.
