UPDATE as of 3:47 p.m. Firefighters used oxygen to revive the family’s cat.

INITIAL POST: Smoke alarms helped a Bonney Lake family escape their home early this morning as flames quickly spread from the garage, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue.

The blaze began about 4 a.m. at a three-story house in the 170600 block of 49th Street East. Investigators have not determined the cause.

Fire crews struggled to douse the flames because the house had metal roofing. They had to strip the roof to access the fire.

No one was injured in the blaze.
