A 17-year-old boy fleeing his home after a domestic violence incident plowed into another vehicle and tried to run from the scene but bystanders held him until Pierce County sheriff’s deputies arrived.

The incident took place about 12:15 p.m. at 112th Street East and Canyon Road East in the Summit area.

“He tried to run from the scene but citizens grabbed him and caught him,” department spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The teenager is in custody. Deputies are still trying to determine what led up to the crash.

The driver of the car that rolled after the teen struck it is being taken to the hospital.
