A pair of men who were shot dead near Summit Thursday have been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Roy Piercy of Roy and Frederick Adamkiewicz of Tacoma, both 30, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head, the office said.

A Pierce County man shot the men who were apparently trying to steal marijuana from what deputies called an illegal pot-growing operation, according to sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer.

The man’s 9-year-old son was with him when he fired outside the house in the 5900 block of 132nd Street East, according the sheriff’s department.

He was not arrested. The results of the investigation will be sent to prosecutors. Even if he isn’t charged in the shooting, he’ll likely be charged for illegally growing marijuana, Troyer said.
