Tacoma Police were investigating a report of an attempted luring of a Lowell Elementary School student Friday morning.
School Principal Robert Duke sent a letter home to Lowell parents Friday that described what was reported to school staff members, who in turn called police.

The letter said that a man reportedly approached a boy near the intersection of North Fifth and North “”K streets, and grabbed the boy’s arm. The suspect was described as a tan-skinned male, 45 to 50 years old, with scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a dark gray jacket with a hood, and ripped jeans.

School officials reminded parents to talk to their children about safety rules:
• Use a buddy system, walk in groups and don’t walk alone in the dark.
• Never get in a vehicle with a stranger. Fight, shout, scream, kick, bite, run and tell an adult.
• Never take anything, such as candy or money, that a stranger offers.
