Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 33-year-old man with three counts of vehicular assault for a June 17 crash in Graham where a family was seriously injured.

Christopher Lee Flowers is expected to be arraigned this afternoon. He has also been charged with failure to remain at the scene of an injury accident.

Charging documents give this account:

Flowers was intoxicated when he made a U-turn near the intersection of 92nd Avenue East and 213th Street East and collided with two Yamaha motorcycles.

On the motorcycles were a husband and wife and their two sons, ages 7 and 15.

The father suffered multiple fractures on his face, pelvis, elbow, forearm, feet and femur. He is not expected to regain use of his right arm and hand.

The mother sustained a brain injury that has given her vision and memory problems.

The teenage son suffered spinal injury and the younger boy underwent knee joint surgery.

Sheriff’s deputies said Flowers left the accident after the crash and was later located in the crowd of onlookers. He apologized for leaving and said he got scared.
