A 10,000-pound marble angel is being installed today above the shared graveside of Charlie and Braden Powell.

The statue will be set at the top of the children’s hill of Puyallup’s Woodbine Cemetery and will be formally revealed Thursday during a 7 p.m. vigil for children who are lost.

The $40,000 project is paid for by donations that flooded in after the community heard the boys’ father, Josh Powell, was to be buried near his sons.

Josh Powell killed the boys, ages 7 and 5, by blowing up their rental home in Graham during a supervised visit.

Pierce County Sheriff Paul Pastor and department spokesman Ed Troyer moved quickly to buy the two $1,750 plots. Nearly 50,000 sent money or cards to help pay for the grave sites.
