A barn owl rescued by firefighters last month was released Wednesday.

The animal had been tangled in fishing line in a tree by the Puyallup River for several hours before Tacoma Fire crews rescued it.

The owl recovered from its injuries at the Sarvey Wildlife Care Center in Arlington.

Firefighters watched the owl’s release at dusk near the river.
