Fire damaged a wax storage tank at a cardboard plant in Orting late Thursday, firefighters reported.

The blaze broke out about 11:45 p.m. in the 10,000-gallon tank at Commencement Bay Corrugated, Orting Valley Fire & Rescue said. Workers at the plant use the wax to manufacture water-resistant cardboard.

Nearly 20 firefighters from three departments responded to the fire and brought it under control about 16 minutes after arriving, the agency said.

Damage is estimated at $3,000. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
