CLEARED: SR 410 shut down at 166th in Sumner after gas line break, local daycare evacuated

UPDATE as of 8:41 p.m. Construction crews working on road improvements accidentally hit a 2-inch gas line, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue. The daycare, the Bonney Lake Justice Center, and local officers were evacuated as a precaution, East Pierce said. People in an apartment complex were asked to remain there as emergency crews worked.

The leak was stopped just before 8 p.m.

State Route 410 was closed for about 1  1/2 hours. Main Street East will be closed as the gas line is fixed.

No one was injured.

UPDATE as of 6 p.m. The gas leak has been contained, the road is open, and the children returned to the daycare, according to Bonney Lake Police. Some side streets will be closed for about an hour while the gas line is fixed.

INITIAL POST: State Route 410 has been shut down at 166th in Sumner after a gas line break at SR 410 and Main Street in Bonney Lake, according to Bonney Lake police.

A local daycare has been evacuated to the Bonney Lake Library, the department said.
