UPDATED: Federal Way police investigating shooting at motel

UPDATE as of 11:48 a.m.:The SWAT team has arrested a man suspected in this morning’s shooting.

After identifying him, police established surveillance in the 3700 block of South 360th and SWAT moved in to take him into custody.

Sequoyah Middle School and Lakeland Elementary were temporarily placed on lockdown.

INITIAL POST: Federal Way police are investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning.

Officers were called to St. Francis Hospital about 12:45 a.m. to speak with a 23-year-old woman who checked herself in to be treated for a gunshot to the back.

The victim told police that a man robbed her in the parking lot of a motel in the 1680 block of South 348th Street. She was driven to the hospital by two men.

Police spokeswoman said no details on the robbery were immediately available.

The alleged gun was described as black, about 35 years old with a thin build and armed with a revolver. He was associated with a silver or white van with three people inside.
