A man who was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night jotted down a partial license plate as his attackers fled, helping Tacoma police track down at least one of the men who accosted him.

The victim told officers he was robbed in the 8800 block of Pacific Avenue by several men who sped off in a vehicle. It didn’t take police long to locate the vehicle but when an officer tried to stop the car, the driver got out and began walking away.

Using a police dog, officers tracked the alleged robber and arrested him without incident. They detained several other men but the victim was not able to identify them so they were released. The one man was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree armed robbery.

Police impounded his vehicle but were unable to find the handgun.
