A 21-year-old man being investigated for a fatal three-vehicle crash in Federal Way was released from jail today.
Stephen Palmer, of Renton, was released after posting $100,000 bond.
Charges will not be filed today so the Washington State Patrol can continue investigating, King County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Dan Donohoe said.
The crash occurred Sunday on southbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way.
Troopers said Palmer set off a fiery crash that sent a double-tanker truck off the road and into the freeway sound wall. The truck caught on fire and killed the driver, Joseph Bartkowski, 68, of Sumner.
Palmer was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the State Patrol said.
Anyone who saw the crash or the vehicles involved beforehand is asked to call Detective Russ Haake at 425-401-7717.
