A 31-year-old Gig Harbor woman was arrested Sunday night after crashing head-on into another vehicle on state Route 302 and injuring her passenger, according to the Washington Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred about 10:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes of SR 302 at Purdy Lane Spur.

Troopers said the Gig Harbor woman entered SR 302 from a parking lot and crossed into the westbound lanes, hitting a 2000 Volvo V70 SW head-on and pushing it backward. She then allegedly drove off and stopped in the parking lot of a nearby hotel.

The driver of the Volvo, a 61-year-old Port Orchard woman, was not injured. Neither was her passenger, a 16-year-old boy.

Once troopers found the Gig Harbor woman, they took her 47-year-old male passenger to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition was not immediately known.

The woman was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of vehicular assault, DUI and hit and run.
