A woman who was stabbed to death in her South Hill-area home Saturday morning has been identified as Joyce West, 54, by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

West’s 40-year-old daughter allegedly stabbed her mother to death, while West’s husband called 911, Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said Saturday.

The woman died at a home in the 13000 block of 158th Street Court East.

The suspect also had injuries, and was taken to a hospital Saturday before being booked into the Pierce County Jail.

The suspect appears to have mental health issues and had not been staying long at the home, Troyer said. She’s from out of town, he added.
