Fire broke out about 3 a.m. today at a house in the 3700 block of North 24th Street, the Tacoma Fire Department reported.

When firefighters arrived, the house was nearly fully engulfed in flames, and crews were forced to switch into defensive mode to protect adjacent homes, the department said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
