After a nearly seven-hour standoff Tuesday night, Fife police and a Tacoma SWAT team arrested a man holed up inside of a hotel.

Fife officers went to La Quinta Inn about 3:40 p.m. to serve the man several state Department of Corrections warrants. It was not immediately known what the warrants were for.

Police heard what they believed was a shotgun being chambered and the man threatening officers.

Tacoma police sent an explosive team and a SWAT team to assist. They eventually used a robot to open the door and the man surrendered about 10 p.m.

No weapons were found in the room.
