A car hit several power poles this evening in Puyallup, closing Shaw Road between 23rd Avenue Southeast and 12th Avenue Southeast, according to Puyallup police.

The driver had a medical emergency and is expected to recover, police said.

The stretch of Shaw Road will be closed for 12 hours, officers expect. Detours are set up and power is out in the area.

Puget Sound Energy has officials on scene.

It will take “quite a bit of time,” to get the power back on, police said.
