Tacoma Fire crews rescued a boater in the waters off the northwest tip of McNeil Island Saturday night.

Officials responded at 6:42 p.m. to a report that two people were aboard a 14-foot skiff that capsized.

Tacoma’s fireboat searched for about 10 minutes and found an adult clinging to the skiff and transported the patient to safety.

A second adult had been able to swim to shore and was found safe on the beach.
