Power outage in Tacoma, surrounding area caused by car hitting pole

A car struck a power pole this afternoon and plunged 6,500 homes and businesses into darkness, Tacoma Public Utilities said.

Electricity is back on for most customers in Tacoma and some in Fife. TPU says crews are working to restore power in East Tacoma, Fife and Puyallup.
