Valley Regional Authority firefighters rescued two dogs today while extinguishing flames at a Pacific house, the department said.

The homeowner tried to put out the blaze with a garden hose but was unsuccessful. Crews responded about 11 a.m. to the home in the 100 block of Aspen Lane South and quickly doused the flames.

No one, including the dogs, was injured. The house suffered smoke and water damage.

A cause has not been determined.
