A man driving through Tacoma this morning was shot in the foot during a drive-by shooting, police said.

The victim was driving with friends about 12:10 a.m. when a dark-colored SUV pulled up along them in the 6400 block of East M Street and someone inside fired a single round.

The bullet went through the driver’s side door and lodged in the victim’s foot. The SUV sped off.

The victim drove to a nearby Safeway in the 700 block of South 56th Street and asked people in the parking lot to call 911. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the victim and his friends were doing nothing wrong and there does not appear to be a reason for the shooting.
