Three people were injured late Wednesday when a vehicle slammed into the back of another car that was stopped at a traffic light in Lakewood.

The collision occurred about 11:30 p.m. on the off-ramp for northbound Interstate 5 at Gravelly Lake Drive Southwest.

Washington State Patrol troopers said a 2000 Ford E3WAGO was stopped at a red light at the top of the off-ramp when a 2007 Mercedes C230 exited the highway and failed to slow down, crashing into the back of the Ford.

Injured were the Ford’s driver and his passenger, both 68-year-old Lakewood men, and the Mercedes’ driver, a 47-year-old Arizona woman.

Troopers said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved. They are investigating the accident.
