American Red Cross officials said Tuesday that they have released an Earthquake App for iPhone and Android platforms that will give users quake notifications and safety information in the event of an emergency.
Features of the free app include tips on what to do before, during and following an earthquake.
The app’s notifications show the epicenter and magnitude of a quake, and users can broadcast messages through the program to let family and friends know they are safe.
Open Red Cross shelters are also featured on the app, which is available in both English and Spanish.
The agency’s First Aid and Hurricane apps have been downloaded more than 1 million times, according to the Red Cross.
The apps can be found in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store for Android by searching for American Red Cross.
