Judge orders Pacific Mayor Cy Sun to fill city positions

A Pierce County Superior Court judge today ordered Mayor Cy Sun of Pacific to fill vacant or temporarily filled positions in the city.

Sun is already in the process of hiring for those 7 spots, his attorney Tyler Firkins said today.

The positions include a city clerk and public works/community development director.

A petition for a writ of mandate filed by city attorney Kenyon Luce earlier this month also asked that Sun be ordered to hire a new head of the police force, but that slot was filled the next week when the city’s civil service commission reinstated the director Sun fired.

Luce said Sun needs to submit a report with the court on his progress filling the positions in 30 days, or he could face sanctions.
