UPDATED as of 12:35 p.m. The search crews are suspending their search after finding no evidence that a plane crashed.

INITIAL POST: Authorities are searching for a small plane that possibly went down in Wilkeson this morning.

Someone called 911 about 10:15 a.m. to report seeing a plane circling low above the power lines in the 16500 block of Wilkeson-Spiketon Road East. The witness did not see the plane crash, but told dispatchers that he lost sight of the aircraft.

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies and East Pierce Fire & Rescue crews are searching the area but have found nothing.
