Man shoots self in Elk Plain after being pulled over by trooper

UPDATE: 5:16 p.m. The man has died, according to a Tweet from Trooper Guy Gill.

UPDATE as of 2:58 p.m.: The man, 63 from Eatonville, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Trooper Guy Gill said.

INITIAL POST: Washington State Patrol troopers are investigating a shooting in Elk Plain.

A trooper pulled a man over shortly before 2 p.m. at a Fred Meyer grocery store at state Route 7 and 224th Street East and the man shot himself, Trooper Guy Gill said.

The man’s condition was not immediately known.
