Brush fire burning near Lake Tapps

UPDATE as of 4:47 p.m.: Firefighters left the scene about 3 p.m. There was no damage to the nearby homes, according to East Pierce.

INITIAL POST: East Pierce firefighters are trying to douse a brush fire burning near homes on the northeast side of Lake Tapps.

The blaze was reported about 12:45 p.m. in the 2000 block of 217th Ave Ct E between 210th Avenue and White River.

Fire officials said the 30 foot by 40 foot fire is burning in steep terrain but crews nearly have it under control.
